The short version
BuildPrivateAI is a benchmark site for private and local AI. We collect very little. If you join our list we keep your name and email so we can reach you, and our host keeps the ordinary server records that any website needs to run. We do not sell your information and we do not run advertising trackers. The sections below fill in the details.
Who this covers
This policy applies to the BuildPrivateAI website and its pages. It does not cover the other services we link to, such as our Discord server or videos on YouTube. Those run under their own policies.
What we collect
There are two ways your information reaches us.
When you join our list. The signup form asks for a name and an email address. You are welcome to use an alias for the name. We also record which form you used and the date you signed up. A hidden field on the form helps us catch automated spam, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the submission came from a person rather than a bot. That check sends your IP address to Cloudflare so it can score the request.
When you browse. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server records for the traffic it serves. These can include your IP address, the pages you requested, the time of the request, and basic details about your browser. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse.
We do not ask for anything more than that, and we do not build profiles about you.
Why we keep it
We use your name and email for one purpose: to let you know when there is a benchmark, result, or write-up worth your attention. The server records exist so the site stays online and stays secure. None of it feeds advertising.
Where it is stored
Signup details live in a Cloudflare D1 database. The site itself runs on Cloudflare's network, so your information is handled on Cloudflare infrastructure, which operates data centers in a number of countries. Cloudflare acts as our processor and is bound by its own agreements and privacy commitments.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. The only company that handles it on our behalf is Cloudflare, which stores the data and runs the site for us. We would disclose information if the law genuinely required it, for example a valid legal request, and we would push back on anything that looked overbroad.
Links to other services
The site points out to places like our Discord server and to videos hosted on YouTube. Once you follow one of those links, or load an embedded video, you are under that company's privacy policy rather than ours. It is worth reading theirs if you spend time there.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. Cloudflare may set security cookies that help it tell humans and bots apart and keep the site protected. If you sign in to the administrator area, a session cookie keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.
How long we keep it
We hold your name and email until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. The server records kept by Cloudflare are retained for a short window and then rotated out on Cloudflare's own schedule.
Your choices
You can leave the list at any time and we will delete your details. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. To do any of these, write to us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, and we will honor those requests.
Children
The site is written for a general, technical audience. It is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and move the date at the top. For anything significant, we will give people on the list a heads up by email.
